Maggies Kick Off With a Win

North Fremantle's A Grade had a very good win in the opening fixture of the season against Wembley at Gilbert Fraser Reserve 12.13 (85) to 7.5 (47). It was a desperately fought game with North Fremantle in front for most of the game until Wembley, in the first 10 minutes of the final quarter, hit the front into a strong breeze. However, the Maggie potential swung into play and the next seven goals were scored with the aid of a strong breeze. There were many good players for the Maggies and it was a great team effort given the challenge Wembley launched at the start of the final quarter. Wembley appeared to be struggling throughout as North Fremantle raced to a six goal to one lead at half time. However, Wembley kicked four goals with the breeze and suddenly there was nothing in the difference. A quick last quarter goal and Wembley were suddenly looming as a big threat. However, the wind was a consequence and North fought back to win.
The A Reserve were not as lucky going down by five goals. The A Colts had a grand win with strength all over the oval. The E grades both won and as this goes to Press the G Grade are locked in battle at Gilbert Fraser Reserve under lights.
